Born in San Francisco, California March 4, 1932 the fifth son of nine children. Simeon and June Beckles. My father came from Jamaica and my mother was born in Kansas City, Kansas.

When I was 7 or 8 my family we moved to Los Angeles. Being Black and being born during the great depression was no picnic and Los Angeles, was far from being ideal. At the age of 9 or ten I made my first shoe shine box and started shining shoes for the Service men at the Greyhound Bus Station.

As I grew my jobs became wide and varied and at the same time my social consciousness was growing along with my educational experiences in ways that I didn't understand.

I knew I was special but I didnt know why. I applied for a job at Kress Newberrys at Vernon and Central avenue and was told they didnt hire niggers-it was then I became aware of the Sentinel Newspaper and Leon Washington whose campaign slogan was dont spend your money where you can't work!

I was drawn to another Black newspaper called The Eagle, Published by Mrs. Bass. She wrote about my story and I suppose that was my first literature experience as I grew into maturity my experience in education and jobs varied.

Schools I attended were Nevin Avenue Lafayette Jr. High Santa Fe School for incorrigible boys Jordan High School and Thomas Jefferson High. My Higher education was Los Angeles City College and Los Angeles State.

I went from Juvenile Hall to Boys camp in the mountains of Los Angeles and San Bernardino County right into Fred C. Nelles School for boys in Whittier California.

Other jobs and activities were in a metal foundry where the heat was so hot I left and went to work in the aircraft industry as a Blue Print Reader and Power Break Operator. From there into sales, managing along the way to create (Omni Imports) and (Consolidated Maintenance Co.).

I also worked as a radio disc jockey and from there I met one of my many mentors which was the owner and publisher of the Herald Dispatch Newspaper, Mr. Sanford Alexander. It was a totally Black owned and operated newspaper.

It was here I really learned about myself and kind Economics, politics, advertisement, my destiny, purpose and prophecy. Our spiritual journey involving this newspaper that was the inspiration for A Declaration of Independence, A Statement of truth, Black Power!"

I am Reuben Son of Simeon, seed of Jacob and I dont play games! We found the leaders of our people across the board had sold themselves and their people out for thirty pieces of counterfeit money!

And people in religions, politics, education, legal and social institutions along with secret societies did not truly believe in God nor the prophecy of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

We walked the Kings Highway in a spiritual Rapture which became divine, crossed Jordan, found the land and took the throne as those in power plotted to destroy me and claim we were white and dead, but God intervened and said it will never happen.

This is what has become known as the Watts Riot-as the thugs are still talking about the coming rapture!  To learn more go to booksmusic.com
